Yes, all our products freeze beautifully and if freezing your pies and squiches, we would recommend cooking from frozen. All the details are supplied with your order, with cooking instructions usually on the box but to summarise, we recommend that you pre-heat the oven to 180°C (160°C fan) gas mark 4, remove all packaging, place squiche or pie on preheated baking tray and cook for 45-50 minutes from frozen.
We’ve created the pies with outstanding quality ingredients and the pastry really does taste amazing when cooked in the oven but if you really can’t wait, you could give your pie a couple of minutes in the microwave, just check it’s piping hot in the middle but honestly, a microwave doesn’t do it justice.
These are not just your ordinary pies! We make our pies and squiches with the same care and quality that you and I do in our own kitchens, we don’t use additives to make the pastry quickly, we use a fridge and let it relax overnight. We use butter and enrich our pastry with free-range eggs, most pie makers use margarine because it’s cheap. All our meat is hand cut by master butchers, not machinery and we work really hard to source our ingredients as locally as we can with the majority of our meat, milk and cream being organic and coming from the Goodwood Estate.
All the pies and squiches arrive in an individual box with the relevant cooking instructions for both chilled and frozen. We recommend that you pre-heat the oven to 180°C, (160° C fan) gas mark 4, remove all packaging, place pie on preheated baking tray and cook for 25-30 minutes from chilled, 45-50 minutes from frozen.
The only product that we add sugar to is the red onion marmalade squiche.
Our meat is not Halal but the majority is single sourced and is organic from the Goodwood Estate. Organic farming is recognised as having particularly high standards of animal welfare, the animals are not routinely and indiscriminately administered anti-biotics and steroids and are all naturally outside bred. Our chicken is British and free-range.
Yes, we enrich our luxury shortcrust pastry with local free-range eggs and we also glaze our pies with egg too but the Squash, Spinach and Feta (vegan) pie is 100% meat and dairy free. Our packaging also declares it as an allergen.

Sometimes there is confusion between joining the Mud Club newsletter and having a Customer Account on the website. You are never asked for a password to join the newsletter as there is no password needed :-)
No unfortunately we don’t do meat and potato, cheese and onion or pork pies currently, BUT keep an eye on our store because we introduce limited editions at various times throughout the year
Unfortunately, we can’t take orders by phone. Are you able to get a friend or relative to order on your behalf? It’s a very simple process at checkout to specify a different delivery address and that would solve the problem. Hope that helps.
The pies will arrive to you with an 6-day chilled shelf life and 6-months frozen. The squiches will arrive with a 4-day chilled shelf life and 6-months frozen.
Is the website not working? The website says you don’t deliver to my address, what do I do? The website won’t let me check out, what do I do?
Please refresh the page and try again, making sure all your details are completely accurate. This cures 99% of problems.
There is yeast in the bouillon that we use in the vegetarian/vegan pies but none of the other pies.
Not yet, but we’re working on it, so please do check back regularly to see how we’re getting on. Currently we don't have enough space for a totally separate gluten-free area.
